The BMC – nothing new to me. | October 10th

Nothing new last weekend, at the BMC in Ostricourt. But hey, what’d you expect? The fun on and around the track always has to be made out of the same components: guys, guts, engines and emulation. Yet, even though the people, the situation, the talk and the fuss (not to mention the food) are almost exactly the same every racing weekend, the fun gets funnier every time. And isn’t it even nicer to look at a race knowing that the competitors have been fighting for a victory in a larger whole for at least half a year already; instead of a simple, single commitment. The repition, and the ability to reproduce what you’re good at over and over again, THAT’s raw.
The smell of burned rubber and exhaust fumes, it used to make me sick. It even gave me headaches. Yesterday those exact same smells brought up a nostalgic feeling inside me. Good old RAW Racing Team days (it had been quite a while since the last race). By the way, there’s nothing less applicable to the team than ‘good old’. We’re a bloody young team! That makes me even prouder when I say that I can proudly say that since last weekend we’ve probably got a second driver competing in the World Series. Christophe, who won both races yesterday and has to, if he wants to assure his ticket to the World Series, win the next (and last) BMC challenge. Good job, man!
Glenn and Luca were there as well, making tasteless soup in the Senior Class. Luca might have forgotten to put on his lucky underwear. Glenn wore a racing suit that was at least an entire size to small. Therefore he was displaying his tight buttocks around the tent all the time. Intentionally or not, it was distracting. Maybe the tightness caused his trouble during the first heat. It could also have been the rain. The rain, the rain, the heavy rain, which I will not be elaborating on because it’s nothing new and it depresses me. Luca had a good speed that first heat, but seemed somewhat distracted/confused, driving passed others in the craziest ways. The second heat was a better one. But still there was something missing. And by the end of the day I found out that Jules wasn’t on the track. Jules Szymkowiak, who hasn’t missed a single race this season! Luckily he was present in the tent, causing food fights that I will not be elaborating on because they were embarassing and deadly funny. As a matter of fact, I will stop elaborating completely, for now. Because the fun we had last weekend and the rawness of the races cannot be explained more clearly than with these exact words. And too much is too much. Or not enough.
